How to make a Discord invite link that never expires

Create a permanent Discord invite in under a minute, on desktop or mobile, and check that it still works.

Updated , 3 min read

Discord invites expire after 7 days unless you change the settings. For links you put in bios, listings, and ads, you want one that lasts forever.

On desktop or web

  1. Right-click your server icon and choose Invite People.
  2. At the bottom, click Edit invite link.
  3. Set Expire After to Never and Max Number of Uses to No limit.
  4. Leave Grant temporary membership off, or people get removed when they disconnect.
  5. Click Generate a New Link and copy it.

On mobile

  1. Open your server, tap its name at the top, then Invite.
  2. Tap Edit invite link (or the settings icon).
  3. Choose Never and No limit, then save and copy.

Pick the right channel

An invite drops people into the channel you created it from, unless onboarding or a rules screen comes first. Create it from your welcome or rules channel, not from a busy chat.

Check it works

Paste it into the invite checker. It confirms the link is valid, shows “Never” for expiry, and shows what visitors see.

Manage and revoke invites

Server Settings, Invites lists every active invite with its creator and uses. Delete any you no longer want. If you ever want a short link like discord.gg/yourname, see how to get a vanity URL.

Questions

Why did my invite stop working?
By default, invites expire after 7 days. It may also have hit its maximum uses, been deleted by a moderator, or been created as temporary membership.
Can anyone create invites?
Only members whose role has the Create Invite permission. Owners can remove it from @everyone to control who invites.
