Community is a free setting that turns a private group into a public-ready server. It unlocks tools that make new members’ first minutes much better.
What Community unlocks
- Onboarding and Rules Screening: new members pick interests and accept rules.
- Welcome screen pointing to key channels.
- Announcement channels other servers can follow.
- Server Insights about growth and engagement.
- Discovery eligibility.
Requirements to turn it on
- Verification level of at least Low (members need a verified email).
- The explicit image filter set to scan media from all members.
- A rules or guidelines channel.
- A community updates channel for messages from Discord to moderators.
Go to Server Settings, Enable Community, and the setup walks you through each step.
Getting into Server Discovery
Server Discovery is Discord’s own directory. Discord sets requirements for it: a minimum member count and server age, healthy activity and member retention, a safe environment, and a server name and description that follow its guidelines. The Discovery page in your Server Settings shows exactly which requirements you currently meet, and Discord updates them over time, so treat that page as the source of truth.
While you work toward it, list on directories like DiscordBase. Once you’re in Discovery, the invite checker will show the “In Server Discovery” badge.
